Youth Focused Campaign for HIV/AIDS

wfc-projects-Youth Focused Campaign for HIV/AIDS

Since 2012, our organization has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at supporting the youth. Our unwavering commitment lies in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and addressing the multifaceted needs of young people.

Among various challenges faced by Nepalese society, one area that demands urgent attention is HIV/AIDS awareness. Young people, particularly susceptible due to shorter relationships and potentially risky behaviours, require a robust understanding of HIV prevention. While the data from Nepal Demographic and Health Survey, the significant proportions (65% young women and 88% young men) are aware of certain measures like condom usage and the importance of uninfected partners, there remains a notable deficit in comprehensive knowledge. Only a small fraction of young women (16%) and men (27%) possess a thorough grasp of HIV prevention methods, highlighting the urgent need for targeted educational interventions. Closing this knowledge gap is essential in empowering young people to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health and effectively combatting the spread of HIV.

Thus, by equipping young people with knowledge, addressing stigma, promoting community engagement, and collaborating with stakeholders across different levels, our goal is to involve more than 100,000 young people in driving impactful change. Together, we strive to combat HIV/AIDS and contribute to the creation of a healthier and more informed generation.

Our organization is dedicated to implementing targeted interventions involving young people. Online activities include hosting weekly quiz segments, collaborating with content creators to develop content aligned with our campaign goals, and enlisting their support to share our content on their channels. Additionally, we have 8 campaign ambassadors aged 18-24 who will use their strong social media presence to share our contents. Similarly, offline platforms involve engaging school-students through the passion of around 8 youth educators to educate them about HIV/AIDS.
