What is Udemy Girls?
âUdemy Girlsâ is an initiative which aims to empower young girls in sexual and reproductive health and rights, reusable pad-making training and business development. The initiative focused on increasing access to locally manufactured, affordable, hygienic and eco-friendly-reusable pads and motivating all genders to advocate for a dignified period without any shame and hesitance.
SRHR and Reusable Pad-Making Training
Sexual and reproductive health and rights experts led informative sessions on womenâs reproductive health, different menstrual products, and hygiene, along with various interactive games with 20 participants from Sindhuli District. Concurrently, the participants attended a reusable pad-making training workshop on the prerequisites of pad making and its required materials, cutting and sewing techniques, and usage methods. An experienced pad-making expert led the reusable pad-making training workshop. All the participants of reusable pad making training received an official certificate that validated their completion of pad-making training and certified them as pad-making trainers.
Business Development and Social Media Advocacy Training
Upon completing the pad-making training successfully, the participants were encouraged to share their newfound skills by training other girls and women in their community. The participants were eager to scale up production and initiate independent businesses. Recognizing their passion, we offered business development training, covering the fundamental aspects of forming and operating a business. Practical examples from real life, along with various tools, were incorporated into the training, fostering awareness and building confidence among the participants. The project team and experts provided personal guidance and mentoring for establishing and operating their businesses throughout and after the workshop.
